For years, "more density" meant high rise towers - and towers meant a fight with planning, huge costs and ultimately not affordable homes. On top of that... according to the ABS stats - lone person living is expected to be one of the fastest growing demographic. Co-living offers a third way. Take an existing residential block and, instead of one dwelling, deliver several homes - without changing the streetscape or building up. That's why councils are increasingly supportive of well-designed co-living: it adds real housing supply and affordability without the planning battles that come with high-rise. Density that fits the street it sits on. When the housing case and the planning case line up, approvals get smoother. That's good for communities - and for the investors who back the model.
