Late Winter Auctions Rise - Clearance Rates Steady Dr. Andrew Wilson reports.... Late winter capital city auction numbers generally increased over the past week, and although clearance rates were steady, listings remain well below the same time last year. The national weekend auction market reported an average clearance rate of 46.7% over the past week, down from 51.8% the previous week and well below 66.9% the same week last year. Auction markets continue to improve, with now more homes listed as spring approaches, but clearance rates, although generally steady, remain mostly subdued. Sydney Auction Clearance Rate Higher Sydney’s auction clearance rate was higher over the past week, with listings again marginally higher – but still relatively subdued. Sydney recorded a clearance rate of 58.1% over the past week, which was similar to the 58.5% recorded over the previous week but again significantly lower than the strong 79.5% reported over the same week last year. Melbourne Clearance Rate a Little Higher Melbourne reported a marginally higher auction clearance rate over the past week, just above 60%. Melbourne recorded a clearance rate of 60.2% over the past week, which was higher than the 59.2% recorded over the previous week but remained well below the 76.5% reported over the same week last year.
