Rents surge past wages as rental affordability plummets under the Albanese government. This chart from the AFR shows that under the tenure of the three previous prime ministers, Scott Morrison, Malcolm Turnbull and Tony Abbott, wages grew faster than average rents. NAB and Ray White recently forecast rents would rise by 30 per cent if housing prices remained steady.
