Auction Clearance Rates Rise as Winter Ends Dr. Andrew Wilson reports... Winter has ended with some positive signs, with auction listings and clearance rates rising in most capitals. The national weekend auction market reported an average clearance rate of 47.3% over the past week, up from 46.7% the previous week but still well below 69.9% the same week last year. Auction markets have mostly continued to improve over recent weeks and are clearly providing early indications of the usual spring revival in buyer and seller activity. Sydney Auction Clearance Rate Higher Again Sydney’s auction clearance rate was higher again over the past week with listings also continuing to rise. Sydney recorded a clearance rate of 62.2% over the past week, up from 58.1% the previous week and the highest since early June, but still well below the 78.1% reported over the same week last year. Melbourne Clearance Rate Higher Again Melbourne again reported a higher auction clearance rate over the past week and continues to track above 60%. Melbourne recorded a weekly clearance rate of 62.5%, which was higher than the 60.2% recorded over the previous week but remained well below the 75.3% reported over the same week last year.
