Australia imports 90% of its liquid fuel. We have 36 days of petrol supply and 32 days of diesel. We operate two refineries. In 2005, we had eight. The Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of global oil passes, has been effectively closed for weeks. This is not a temporary disruption. It is a structural vulnerability that was always there. This conflict just made it visible. (Sources: Macquarie University Lighthouse, Scimex, CPD Centre, March 2026) #EnergyResilience #FuelCrisis #Australia #SupplyChain
